“Anything else?” we are often asked when shopping. Numerous old toy shops in miniature format are presently on show at the Toy Museum. In one of them, you can (almost) really buy things and play shop …
A merry meeting of dolls ...
A fantastic Crocodile locomotive and many other valuable old toy trains are on show, and you can actually drive a ROCO train set.

The Toy Museum | Bürgerspital

The Toy Museum in the Bürgerspital was founded in 1978 as a donation of the Folk Collection. Today it holds the largest collection in Austria on the history of European toys.

All types of toys are represented and shown in a space of 800 square metres in the rooms of the historic Bürgerspital (“civilian hospital”) built around one of the most beautiful Renaissance courtyards in Salzburg: doll’s houses and dolls, paper theatres, metal and wooden toys of all well-known producer regions, soft and furry toys – above all teddy bears – optical toys, tin and pewter figures, railway sets, non-European toys and much more.

Special exhibitions and children’s programmes

Special exhibitions and changing presentations from its own holdings complete the extensive range of the museum. There are also regular children’s programmes including games and handicrafts.

Punch and Judy show

For over 25 years, the “Kasperltheater” puppet show held each Tuesday and Wednesday at 3 pm (except during the summer and Christmas holidays) has been especially popular.

Toy shop

The shop has a wide range of toys to suit every purse.
