From the very beginning, items from the fields of applied arts and everyday culture were collected. In the twentieth century, these objects were long subsumed under the term ‘arts and crafts’. The current name of the collection, ‘Applied Arts and Everyday Culture’, was first used in the twenty-first century and attempts to better capture the heterogeneity of the collection. At the same time, however, the category of Design is not reflected in the name of the collection.
