Salzburg Museum GmbH and its museums are committed to making their websites accessible in accordance with the Austrian Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz – BaFG).

Compliance Status

Due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below, this website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 and with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) pursuant to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.

 

Non-Accessible Content

Salzburg Museum GmbH and its museums are committed to making information as accessible as possible. However, some of the content listed below is not yet fully accessible and does not fully comply with accessibility requirements:

  • PDF Documents
    Many of our older PDF documents do not meet accessibility requirements. In particular, these files often lack appropriate semantic tagging, which means that they are only partially accessible to screen reader users. If you require a specific document that you are unable to read or use, please contact us by email at inklusion@salzburgmuseum.at. Upon request, we will provide the content in an accessible format and are gradually replacing the affected documents.
  • Videos
    Some older videos are not accessible (e.g. they do not include subtitles or audio descriptions). Making these older materials fully accessible retrospectively would constitute a disproportionate burden under the Austrian Accessibility Act (BaFG). For newly produced videos, we aim to ensure accessibility, particularly by providing subtitles. If you nevertheless come across a more recent video without subtitles, please let us know and we will endeavour to find a solution.
    The homepage features an automatically playing background video. This video does not contain any audio, but it also does not provide an audio description or text alternative for its visual content. This element therefore does not fully comply with the requirements of WCAG 2.2.
  • Images
    Some images and media content do not currently include alternative text or descriptive text. However, we are working to gradually add appropriate alternative and descriptive text to all images and graphics.
  • Texts
    We continuously strive to supplement our content with clearly and comprehensibly written texts, including content in easy-to-understand language. If you find any text difficult to understand or require information in an accessible format, please contact us. Upon request, we will provide the information you require in an appropriate format. Please contact us by email at inklusion@salzburgmuseum.at.
  • Animations
    A marquee (a continuously moving animation) is currently used on a page of the Toy Museum. At present, this animation cannot be paused or stopped. We are already working on implementing a pause/play function. This functionality will be added as soon as possible in order to meet accessibility requirements.

This statement was prepared on 16 July 2025. It was prepared on the basis of manual and automated accessibility evaluations carried out by a third party. The statement was last reviewed on 16 July 2025.

If your enquiry regarding the accessibility of our website, www.salzburgmuseum.at, is not resolved to your satisfaction, you may contact the complaints office of the Anti-Discrimination Office in the City of Salzburg or the Austrian Disability Ombudsman’s Salzburg office. These bodies receive complaints concerning barriers experienced by people with disabilities in digital communication with public authorities.
