Wie jedes Bild der Serie Strafe zeigt Strafe XI (Schwere Knochen) das vorhergehende Bild Strafe X unfertig im Atelier. Gemalt ist es auf den auf die Leinwand geklebten Seiten des Buchs Schwere Knochen, das der Maler während des Malens des Bildes als Hörbuch hörte. Wie die ersten Werke der Serie, die längst zu klein sind um noch sichtbar zu sein ist auch das Buch nicht mehr lesbar, aber es ist immer noch ein Teil des Werks. Malerei, so sagt man, ist geronnene Zeit.
