The General Terms and Conditions for Museum Operations and the Shop govern the legal relationship between visitors and the Museum. In the event that an admission ticket is transferred to another person (e.g. as a gift), the person who most recently purchased the ticket is responsible for informing the recipient that the Museum’s General Terms and Conditions apply to each subsequent visitor. The General Terms and Conditions form an integral part of all contracts between visitors and the Museum.

Ticket Prices
The Museum’s prices as set out in the applicable price lists shall apply. The prices listed include the statutory value-added tax (VAT) currently in force. The Museum reserves the right to set prices that differ from those stated in the price lists in individual cases (e.g. for special exhibitions). Any such prices will be indicated on the respective tickets.
Discounted tickets may only be purchased by individuals who belong to one of the eligible groups. These groups include school pupils, students, senior citizens, visitors with disabilities, individuals performing compulsory military or civilian service, and cooperation partners. There is no legal entitlement to discounted tickets. Only one ticket may be issued per eligible person.
Discounted tickets are invalid unless accompanied by valid photo identification establishing entitlement to the discount. In the event of improper use of a ticket, the difference in price may be charged, or visitors may be asked to leave the Museum. In the latter case, the ticket price will not be refunded, even in part.
Ticket Purchase
The Salzburg Museum endeavours to provide all prospective visitors with the best possible service when purchasing tickets. However, prospective visitors have no legal entitlement to purchase or reserve one or more tickets for exhibitions or other Museum events.
Tickets for exhibitions at the Salzburg Museum are available at the Museum’s ticket offices during the respective opening hours. The Museum reserves the right to refuse the sale of tickets for a specified period or, in serious cases, indefinitely to prospective visitors who disrupt the orderly sale of tickets or disturb other visitors, or who fail to comply with the applicable House Rules or with instructions issued by ticket office or supervisory staff.
For particularly popular exhibitions, the Salzburg Museum reserves the right to limit ticket sales to two tickets per prospective visitor on the first day of advance sales. However, the Museum retains the discretion to waive this restriction in individual cases.
Tickets may generally be paid for in cash, by debit card or by credit card. The Salzburg Museum reserves the right to set a minimum purchase amount below which credit card payments will not be accepted.
Ticket Refunds and Replacements
Paid admission tickets may only be returned or exchanged in return for a museum ticket voucher.
No replacement or compensation will be provided for tickets that have been lost or otherwise misplaced, or for tickets that have not been used or have only been partially used.
The same applies to visitors who arrive shortly before the Museum’s closing time and are denied admission due to visitor congestion or overcrowding in an exhibition or throughout the Museum, particularly where this results in the temporary closure of certain galleries.
Validity of Tickets Purchased
Tickets purchased entitle the holder to enter the Museum during the period specified by the exhibition date printed on the ticket. Tickets may also be purchased as gifts and are valid for up to two years from the date of initial purchase.
Cancellation or Changes to Exhibitions, Guided Tours or Other Special Events
If an exhibition or a special event/guided tour included in the admission ticket, the title of which is printed on the ticket, which has otherwise been advertised, or for which tickets have been purchased solely for the purpose of attending, is replaced, rescheduled or cancelled, the Salzburg Museum will not accept the return of admission tickets already purchased but not used.
Admission tickets entitle visitors to access all exhibition rooms of the Salzburg Museum that are open at the time of the visit, irrespective of any exhibitions, guided tours or other special events that may have been announced. Restricted access to certain areas due to temporary closures for events or conservation reasons shall likewise not constitute grounds for returning admission tickets under any circumstances.
The Salzburg Museum expressly reserves the right to close the Museum due to weather conditions or events. Rescheduling or cancellation of guided tours or special events shall also not entitle ticket purchasers to return their tickets. However, if a guided tour is rescheduled by more than two hours, or if a guided tour not included in the exhibition admission ticket is cancelled, the fee paid for the guided tour may be refunded.
Visitors are responsible for checking for any changes on the day of the guided tour or event, for example through the media or by contacting the Salzburg Museum by telephone.
Data Protection
Tickets are purchased anonymously by the respective ticket purchasers. In the case of registration for special events, the applicable consent declaration shall apply.
Tickets for Special Events Requiring Registration in Advance
For special events requiring advance registration, cancellations may be made free of charge up to 48 hours before the event begins. After this deadline, the full fee will be charged. This also applies to individually booked guided tours and workshops (e.g. children’s birthday parties) requiring advance registration.
If an event is cancelled for reasons attributable to the Salzburg Museum, the Museum will endeavour to offer an alternative date without affecting the validity of the tickets. If this is not possible, a voucher for an equivalent event will be issued. Cash refunds are not available.
Purchase of Goods and Items at the Salzburg Museum Shop
All goods and items include the statutory value-added tax (VAT). The applicable statutory provisions on liability for defects and warranties shall apply. If an item is out of stock, customers may contact the Shop staff to enquire about placing an order.
Returns and Exchanges of Goods Purchased at the Salzburg Museum Shop
Returns or exchanges of goods and items purchased at the Salzburg Museum Shop are possible within 14 days of purchase, upon presentation of the receipt, in exchange for a value voucher issued by the Salzburg Museum Shop.
Only goods and items that are unused and undamaged and are returned to the Salzburg Museum ticket counter will be accepted for return or exchange.
No cash refunds will be issued for returned goods or items. Furthermore, no cash payment will be made for any difference in value between the voucher amount and the value of the goods purchased.
Claims for Damages
Claims for Damages
Customers’ claims for damages, regardless of the legal basis, in particular claims arising from the impossibility of performance, are excluded unless they are based on wilful misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the Salzburg Museum. This limitation does not apply to claims for damages involving personal injury, damage to items entrusted to the Museum for processing, or damage arising under the Product Liability Act.
Miscellaneous
Offering for sale or selling admission tickets for events organised by the Salzburg Museum is prohibited within the Museum’s buildings.
By entering the premises of the Salzburg Museum, visitors agree to comply with the applicable House Rules. Visitors must present a valid admission ticket to Museum staff upon request at all times.
In the event of any violation of the Salzburg Museum’s House Rules, visitors may be asked to leave the exhibition, guided tour or event. In such cases, the admission fee will not be refunded.
The place of performance is Salzburg. Austrian law shall apply.

After placing an order, customers receive an order acknowledgement, which does not constitute an order confirmation in the sense of acceptance of the offer. It merely confirms that the Salzburg Museum has received the order.
The purchase contract is concluded once the Salzburg Museum dispatches the ordered goods to the customer or, in the case of admission tickets and workshop tickets purchased online, once the tickets have been delivered by email following receipt of payment.
Prices and Delivery Terms
All prices include statutory value-added tax (VAT). Businesses with a valid VAT identification number (VAT ID) cannot place VAT-exempt orders through the Salzburg Museum Online Shop and must contact the Museum separately at shop@salzburgmuseum.at.

There is no legal entitlement to discounted tickets. Discounted tickets are invalid unless accompanied by valid photo identification or other proof establishing entitlement to the discount.

Right of Withdrawal
Consumers may withdraw from this distance selling contract within 14 days without giving any reason, subject to the conditions set out in the Austrian Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (Fern- und Auswärtsgeschäfte-Gesetz, FAGG), unless one of the exceptions to the right of withdrawal under Section 18 FAGG applies.
1. Tickets, Individual Art Education Sessions and Workshops
In this context, particular attention is drawn to the fact that, pursuant to Section 18(1)(10) FAGG, there is no right of withdrawal or exchange when purchasing tickets for a specific date or time (museum visits or workshops) through the Salzburg Museum Online Shop. There is also no right of withdrawal for tickets that are personalised in accordance with Section 18(1)(3) FAGG.
The provisions of the Distance and Off-Premises Contracts Act (FAGG) apply only to consumers within the meaning of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (Konsumentenschutzgesetz, KSchG).
The Salzburg Museum reserves the right to cancel individual art education sessions or workshops if, before the scheduled start, it becomes apparent that the minimum number of participants will not be reached. Such cancellation will be communicated no later than four days before the event, and the fee paid will be refunded.
If a course instructor or speaker is unable to attend, a substitute may take over the event or an alternative date may be announced.
2. Workshop Series
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to kunstvermittlung@salzburgmuseum.at and are free of charge up to 10 business days before the workshop begins.
From the ninth business day before the workshop begins, 50% of the course fee will be charged. In the event of non-attendance, the full course or workshop fee will be charged. However, the booked place may be transferred to another person.
No refunds will be issued for individual sessions missed by participants or for participants who leave the course early.
The Salzburg Museum reserves the right to cancel the agreement if, before the scheduled start of the workshop series, it becomes apparent that the minimum number of ten participants will not be reached. Such cancellation will be communicated no later than four days before the course begins, and the fee paid will be refunded.
If the course instructor is unable to attend an individual session, a substitute may take over the session or an alternative date may be arranged.
3. Goods, Catalogues and Editions
Instructions on the Right of Withdrawal
As consumers, customers have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period expires 14 days from the day on which the customers, or a third party designated by them other than the carrier, take possession of the goods or, in the case of partial deliveries, the last delivery.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, customers must inform the Salzburg Museum (Salzburg Museum GmbH, Shop, Mozartplatz 1, 5020 Salzburg, Austria) of their decision to withdraw from this contract by means of a clear statement, either by post or by email to shop@salzburgmuseum.at.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for customers to send their notification exercising the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period expires.
If customers withdraw from this contract, the Salzburg Museum shall reimburse all payments received from them, excluding any delivery costs already incurred, without undue delay and no later than 14 days from the day on which the Salzburg Museum receives notification of the withdrawal. The Salzburg Museum will use the same means of payment for the reimbursement as the customers used for the original transaction, unless expressly agreed otherwise. Under no circumstances will customers be charged any fees for this reimbursement.
The Salzburg Museum may withhold reimbursement until it has received the returned goods or until customers have provided evidence that they have returned the goods, whichever occurs first.
Customers must return or hand over the goods to the Salzburg Museum (Salzburg Museum GmbH, Shop, Mozartplatz 1, A-5020 Salzburg, Austria) without undue delay and, in any event, no later than 14 days from the day on which they notify the Salzburg Museum of their withdrawal from this contract. The deadline is met if customers dispatch the goods before the 14-day period has expired.
Customers shall bear the direct costs of returning the goods.
Without prejudice to the right to inspect the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods, the goods must be returned to the Salzburg Museum unused and undamaged. Customers shall only be liable for any diminished value of the goods if such loss in value results from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Final Provisions Regarding Jurisdiction and Applicable Law
The place of performance and jurisdiction shall be Salzburg. Austrian law shall apply.
Where customers are consumers within the meaning of the Austrian Consumer Protection Act (Konsumentenschutzgesetz, KSchG), jurisdiction shall lie with the court having subject-matter jurisdiction in whose district the customer’s place of residence, habitual residence or place of employment is located.
The Salzburg Museum reserves the right to amend and update these General Terms and Conditions as necessary. Any such amendments shall apply only to contracts concluded in the future.
