The sculptor Alfred Haberpointner, born in Ebenau in 1966, is the focus of an exhibition at the Kunsthalle. In addition to materials such as steel, lead, and glass, wood is the medium that most defines Haberpointner’s artistic practice. He places great emphasis on the texture of the surface: chopped, struck, or coated with metal, these techniques create new textures, a rhythm, or an intensification of form. The exhibition features a series of heads spanning the last 20 years, as well as large-format wall works made of wood and paper, and installation-based groups, the most recent of which explores the tool of his trade: the axe.
