After the Second World War, the victims of the Nazi regime in the police force and the gendarmerie were the first to be commemorated. Their own actions as perpetrators were not addressed for a long time. The peripatetic exhibition – initiated by the Federal Ministry of the Interior – presents a survey of the organisation, tasks and ethos of the executive powers in National Socialism, including the breaks and continuations prior to and after Nazi rule.
